Inside PompeiiTourGuides.com, Intercoper's independent guide to Pompeii — researched and curated by the Intercoper Curator Team, built on Next.js and Sanity.
Visit site →PompeiiTourGuides.com is an independent editorial travel guide covering the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, operated by Intercoper as part of its portfolio of specialized travel properties. The site has been online since its build and is maintained continuously by the Intercoper Curator Team.
Why Pompeii
Pompeii is among the most demanding destinations in Italy to cover accurately, and it is one of the few major sites where the rules change often enough that most published information is out of date.
The park operates under a hard daily cap of 20,000 admissions, split across two timed entry windows during the high season. Tickets are nominative — the name on the ticket must match the identification presented at the gate — which makes third-party resale legally awkward and catches out travelers who booked under someone else's name. A strict bag limit is enforced at the gates. Re-entry is not permitted, so a visitor who leaves to find a restroom or lunch cannot return on the same ticket.
Most consequentially for anyone publishing about the site: as of March 2026, the park's sole official online ticket seller changed. Any guide still directing readers to the previous seller is sending them somewhere that no longer sells the ticket. A great deal of Pompeii coverage online has not been updated to reflect this.
The site is also physically vast — roughly 66 hectares and over a thousand buildings, with three to six kilometres of walking on uneven basalt paving and almost no shade. The difference between a rewarding visit and an exhausting one is almost entirely a function of information the visitor had before arriving.
What the Site Covers
The guides address the decisions travelers actually face: which ticket to buy and what each one includes, whether the Villa of the Mysteries justifies the upgrade, which entrance to use, how long the site genuinely takes, when the houses close, how to get there from Naples, Sorrento or Rome, and whether a guided tour with an archaeologist is worth its cost.
Each guide states its conclusion before its explanation, presents trade-offs in comparison tables rather than burying them in prose, and closes every recommendation with an explicit statement of what the reader gives up by taking it.
Who Produces the Content
All content on the site is produced by the Intercoper Curator Team, the studio's in-house editorial group, responsible for research, verification, comparison, and the final recommendation on every page. Mario Dalo, founder of Intercoper, serves as editorial director.
The team uses whatever tools serve the research: official park documentation, primary sources, operator listings, and analytical software for organizing and cross-checking large volumes of information. The tools are instruments. The judgment — what is true, what is worth telling a traveler, what a tour is actually worth — belongs to the people doing the work.
Editorial Standard
Ticket prices, entry windows, capacity limits, opening hours, bag restrictions, and access rules are verified against current primary sources rather than inherited from existing coverage. Where the park changes its rules — as it has repeatedly, on ticketing, capacity and entry — the guides are revised.
Prices and rules that change over time carry an explicit caveat and a pointer to the official source. Structural facts — the site's dimensions, the terrain, the layout of the entrances — are stated directly. The guides direct readers to the official channel for standard entry tickets, including when that is the cheaper choice.
Where sources conflict, the site says so rather than selecting a figure and presenting it as settled.
Build
The site runs on the stack Intercoper has standardized across its travel properties:
- Next.js 14 (App Router) for server-rendered pages
- Sanity CMS as a headless content backend, with editorial elements stored as structured fields
- Vercel for edge deployment, with Cloudflare handling DNS and caching
- Server-side rendering for all content and internal links, so that everything published is present in the initial HTML response
The structured-data layer emits Article, Breadcrumb, Organization, and FAQPage schema. The site omits aggregateRating markup entirely — a deliberate compliance decision, as review markup on non-review pages violates Google's guidelines.
The engineering exists to serve the editorial work, not to substitute for it.
Commercial Model
PompeiiTourGuides.com does not sell tickets or process payments. Tours are operated by licensed third parties — GetYourGuide and Viator — and displayed at the operator's listed price with no markup or added fee. The site earns an affiliate commission at no additional cost to the visitor. Recommendations are editorial and cannot be purchased.
